The Sleepover

Last Friday night Megan, Julianna, Kirsten, and I decided to have a sleepover in the front room. So we all moved our mattresses into the living room! It was so much fun. We also had a TON of junk food; there were Cheetos, Sun Chips, Chocolate Chip Coolies, Cookies n' Cream Kisses, and a bunch of other chocolaty goodness!!

Me, Megan, and Julianna before we decided to have a sleepover!

Me, Megan, and Julianna sitting on our beds, on Saturday Morning, all working on our homework.

On Saturday we sat in the front room, on our beds or course, and did our homework. We also had a Christmas movie marathon! It was way fun. We had so much fun that we slept in the front room on Saturday night also! (Actually we just didn't feel like getting up and out of bed to put our beds away.) On Sunday, after Church, we finally got all of the mattresses put back in our rooms and the living room is now clean.

Jane Austen Yule Ball

Yesterday was the Jane Austen Yule Ball at BYU-Idaho! I had so much fun. All but one of my roommates went. We all asked guys if they would escort us to the ball (they were sort of our dates, but more of an escort than a date). I asked Jamie McConnell, he lives in Lake Point and we are friends from high school.

Jamie and I dressed for the Ball.

The day started out at 10:00; my roommate Amy made breakfast for everyone. Then at 11:00 we went to the church house where the Ball was held and practiced all of the dances that we would be dancing that night.

We learned 3 dances that were from the Regency era. The first dance was called 'Hole in the Wall' it is from the movie 'Becoming Jane'. The next dance was 'the Northanger Abbey dance' from the movie 'Northanger Abbey'. The last dance is called 'Mr. Beverages Maggot' from 'Pride and Prejudice' (it is the dance the Lizzy and Mr. Darcy dance together).

Julianna and I at the Dance.

After dance practice, which ended at 1:00, everyone went home to do homework and whatever else they needed to do. I worked on my math homework, but didn't get all of it done. Julianna did my hair, she did it so that it looked like they the hairstyles in Jane Austen's time.

This is how Julianna did my hair for the Ball.

At 7:00 the Ball started, we all got our pictures taken and then started dancing. The would tell us what dance we were going to be dancing and then everyone would get organized into lines to dance the dances. I danced with Josh, Julianna's escort, Dan, Megan's escort, and Robbie, Heidi's escort. I had a lot of fun! Jamie and I even learned how to play Whist, an English card game.

All of us girls dressed up for the Jane Austen Yule Ball.

At the end of the Ball Sister Cammack, she put the Ball on, showed an amazing video called 'It's Raining Men'... here is the URL for the movie.

The Movie is So wonderful! I love Mr. Darcy and Mr. Thornton!

The night was so much fun! After the Ball was ended and all of the decorations taken down, we had a big group picture, and there were a lot of people in our group. I hope you like the pictures.

Roommate Thanksgiving

On Sunday, November 15, 2009 my roommates had Thanksgiving Dinner! We invited the downstairs apartment and some guys that are in our ward. We had a lot of fun! Megan bought a turkey, cooked it, and carved it for the first time. It was her rite of passage!

Megan and Julianna, not very happy about all of the dishes we have to wash and put away...
But with all three of us working together, we got everything cleaned up rather quickly. And we had fun doing it!!!

We also decorated our apartment with Christmas decorations! We have an apartment that is decorated for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love it!

Megan's Snowflake tree topper and Snowflake Angel tree topper.

We hung up snowflake garland, and shiny snowflakes on the ceiling, so it's like we are living in a winter wonderland!

A Great Day!

Yesterday I had a wonderful day!!! I went to my first class, and after wards I worked on my homework for an hour. I then went to work, I now work on campus at the FTC. I work with the online testing. I went home at 3:00. When I walked into my apartment, everything was decorated for my birthday. I didn't think my roommates were going to decorate, or make a cake which was sitting on the table with HAPPY BIRTHDAY candles in it. I thought it was a little weird, and it was definitely not what I was expecting my first birthday away from home to be. So I just kind of shrugged it off and went to my bedroom. When I got to my room my Mom, Krista, Micaela, and Evan were there!!!! It was a very big surprise! And I loved it! They had come all the way up to Rexburg, Idaho, just to celebrate my birthday! It was amazing!

They had all of my presents there, and I got to open them with my family! My roommates had also gotten presents for me. My mom bought pizza for dinner, which we all ate, and then we had cake and ice cream. I had a lot of fun! I am way glad that my family came up for my birthday. I had a great day!!!

My family decorated the living room and my side of the bedroom.

The Week at a Glance

I don't have anything really exciting to say. So I will just update you on everything that has been going on.

Last week I went home for conference, which I loved! But when I had to leave it was really hard to say goodbye to my family; mainly because I knew I wasn't going to be coming back home for a while. And when I got to Rexburg none of my roommates where there yet so I was all by myself, and I ended up crying a lot because of missing my family. When my roommates came home they cheered me up and I felt a little better.

On Monday, for FHE, the other girls apartment didn't come and there was only one of the guys who showed up. But it was a lot of fun!

Tuesday, I went to work for the first time. I really don't like working at a research marketing company, but I am living with it. We had chili, which one of my roommates made for dinner. That night at 2 in the morning I woke up with a REALLY bad stomach ache. I ended up feeling not very well and not being able to go back to sleep for an hour.

On Wednesday, I felt a little better, but I still felt sick. I went to work again, and I got to leave early because they didn't have enough computers for all of the people coming in for the next shift. I like leaving work early! :)

Thursday, I woke up feeling really horrible. I went to my first class and ended up not not going to my second class because it's volleyball and I couldn't exactly do anything with a stomach ache. I went to my apartment and my roommates, Julianna and Megan were going to an Abraham Lincoln museum in Idaho Falls; they invited me to come along, so I did. I started to feel a little better on the ride there, so I ended up having a lot of fun with my roommates. When we got back to Rexburg I was once again not feeling very well. I was supposed to work at 6pm, but I ended up calling in sick, because I didn't feel very good.

Friday I woke up feeling really good. I only had one class and I was able to get a lot of my homework done. I made dinner for my apartment and then I went to my friends birthday party. Some of the guys that we had made friends with in my ward came, and we had a lot of fun! It also snowed a little today. It snowed last week too, and last week there was enough snow to cover the ground; luckily it melted pretty quickly. I'm not ready for the snow!!!

On Saturday, I woke up feeling sick again. :( I was hoping that my break on Thursday had helped me to get better, but apparently not. I started to feel better by the time I had to go to work at noon. I worked for and hour and a half, and then they told a bunch of us that we could leave. I didn't ask any questions; who would if you got to leave work early? I went home did my homework and then at 7:30 my roommates and I went to a Jim Brickman concert. It was a lot of fun! But by the time we got home, I was once again feeling sick.

Today I feel pretty good; let's hope it lasts. I don't know what I am going to do if these stomach aches won't go away. My roommates are already in the Christmas spirit(we have been listening for Christmas music for the last couple of days!). My roommates are all very nice and I am having a wonderful time up here in Rexburg; even though I miss my family. I am making good friendships and it is wonderful! I hope that everyone is having a wonderful time and staying healthy!

Getting over being homesick

Well, I have been in Idaho, by myself, for two whole weeks. Scary! And yes I have been very homesick. I have missed my family so much and have also been very stressed out about the work load that I have had from my classes.

So last Friday, my friend Jamie, was going home for the weekend, so I got a ride home with him. I loved being home! It is just so nice and comfortable at home that I didn't really want to leave! But I left, because I know that school is important. And because I know that I am going back home next week; a missionary came home and is speaking next week, and Jamie wanted to be there, so I will be going home once again!!! YAY!!!!

Well, after I got home today, Megan Yates, my cousin, called me and asked me if I wanted to come a hang out at her apartment. I like her apartment a lot, and her roommates are all very nice! I think I might stay with them in the Spring Semester when I am there next, I would be taking Megan's place because she is not there during the Spring. They invited some boys over too to hang out with. It was a lot of fun, the guys were all really nice! Then after that, the girls from the apartment went to Stadium Singing, and I went with, it was a lot of fun, the singing was wonderful!

So that was my week, I'm not so homesick now; it is still hard to be away from family, but I know that it will get better.

Just the beginning...

Today was my first day at BYU-Idaho. It was a very exciting and nerve racking day. I had a lot of fun, but it will take some getting used to living without my parents. My roommates, or at least the three that I have met seem really nice and fun. For that I am very grateful. Saying goodbye wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but I know that I am going to miss my family, and am very glad that I can call home when I need or want to.

Today I did some Get Connected (freshman orientation) stuff, which continues through Wednesday. Tomorrow, before my get connected stuff starts, my roommates and I are going to go to the temple. I am very excited for that opportunity, especially knowing that you have to have reservations to go to the temple in Rexburg.

I am very glad for all of the many blessings that I have received, and for the good roommates that I have.
